Impounds

Karratha Tilt Tray and Towing currently operate the Police Impounds on behalf of the WA Police for Karratha and surrounds.

Collections of impounded vehicles and items from vehicles are by appointment only. Please call ahead to the office to book your vehicle collection on (08) 91441727. Appointments can be made between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Please ensure you have the necessary paperwork completed for the collection of your vehicle and bring 100 points of ID.

Please keep in mind, our staff are not responsible for the impound of your vehicle and are bound by law surrounding the rules of access and collection. Abuse and unruly behaviour will not be tolerated.

How do I collect a vehicle from  the impound yard? 

 1. Attend a local police station (ID and proof of ownership required) to obtain a completed “Application for release form”.

2. Only the owner may authorise another person to collect the vehicle, by completing and signing the bottom section of the “Application for release form” before the vehicle will be released to another person.

3. Contact the storage provider to arrange for the collection of the vehicle.

 

4. The person collecting the vehicle will be required to produce to the storage provider the “Application for release form” and  proof of ID.

 

5. Pay the costs in full, the vehicle will then be released.

 

NOTE: Approval for the release of the vehicle does not give an authority to drive. If you do not hold a current valid driver's licence, you must not drive and should make alternative arrangements. 

Complete this form for collection of your vehicle and if you are granting permission for someone else to collect the vehicle on your behalf.

To collect personal items from your vehicle, complete this form and submit it to the vehicle impound unit. This does NOT grant you access to your vehicle so please be as specific as possible about the items and location in your vehicle.

The WA Police Vehicle Impound Unit offers payment plans for those who need it. To apply for a Payment plan, please complete this form and submit it to the Vehicle Impound Unit. Approved payment plans will then need to pay 60% of the impound fee upon collection of the vehicle.

If you believe your vehicle has been wrongfully impounded or require it for specific reasons, you can apply for early release through the Vehicle Impound Unit, to apply for early release, please complete this form and submit it directly to the Vehicle Impound Unit.
